This Saturday, I hopped over to Lexington for Sejal and Malcolm's wedding. The wedding was at a
private residence on a golf course. And the best part about it was it was all outdoors. I love shooting
with available light! And the fact that I was looking forward to great Indian dancing at the end of the
night made it even better. I love me some Indian dancing!
Sejal cuts her speech down to size.
A portrait of a family member.
I thought this image of the guests signing in was interesting.
Gabe was the ultimate smiley ringbearer.
Malcolm hugging Sejal's dad. I keep thinking of Tommy Boy, "Brothers don't shake hands..."
This man got the crazy idea of shooting me. So I shot him back. Who said formals are boring?
Sejal gave a wonderfully emotional speech that had everybody in tears.
These friends performed an awesome choreographed dance.
Dance off Zoolander style. This time it's middle aged Indian men. Awesome!
The guests managed to strip Sejal's dad of his jacket while dancing.
The single guys are always so eager to get the garter.
Diggin' the flare in this shot at the end of the night. (24mm, 1/4 sec, f2)
On Friday, I photographed Johanna and Aaron's destination wedding in St. Pete Beach, Florida. I met
Johanna when she was the maid of honor at a wedding last fall. We had a great time and I loved
shooting at such a fun location.
The Don CeSar, aka "The Pink Castle".
The guys had some drinks at the bar.
As we walked outside, Aaron had to keep his eyes closed to avoid seeing Johanna too early.
Loved how this little guy hid behind the sign.
The courtyard was a perfect spot for a ceremony.
This moment occurred right after her father gave her away.
I love the eye contact in this frame shot through a palm tree.
The wedding was near the pool and attracted some unexpected guests.
Aaron was making her laugh with some goofy expressions.
Walking back in for the reception.
The first dance in the Grand Ballroom.
Dance party John Travolta style.
When Aaron cut the Minnesota Vikings groom's cake, he sang their fight song.
Playing her Nintendo DS during the dance party.
Looks like the liquid courage got the groomsmen out on the floor.
It is appropriate that on the day of the Kentucky Derby, I post an engagement session from another
beloved Kentucky horse track. Tracie and Brian are getting married in Pikeville this July and I was
very pumped to shoot their session at Keeneland. By the way, congratulations Big Brown! Winning
from the 20th position. Crazy! Thanks for filling my pockets with a little extra cash this week! In case
you missed the Derby, check out the replay over on ESPN.
I'm back from Johanna and Aaron's fabulous destination wedding! I have all sorts of great images from
their wedding that I can't wait to blog. But first, here are some engagement images from Kristen and
Dominic's session in D.C. They just moved to D.C. from London (Dominic has an awesome accent!)
and are getting married in Louisville in October. Here are some images from our session.
Running past some funky homes in Georgetown.
In the middle of the Potomac, Jefferson Island.
Just a heads up that I'll be out of the office 5/1 through 5/4. It's not what you think. You won't find me
partying in the infield on Derby day. (Although we did head down to the Chow Wagon tonight for some
good times. Funnel Cake, yum!) I'm heading down to St. Petersburg, Florida to shoot Johanna and
Aaron's super cool destination wedding. It's going to be a great event and I can't wait to be down there
shooting on the beach.
I'm always looking for different places to shoot engagement sessions. So when we decided to take a
family trip to D.C. before the summer hit, I called a few wedding clients who live in D.C. to see if they'd
be interested. We totally lucked out and I was able to shoot two sessions downtown. Fun! The first
was Ilene and Steve. They live in D.C. and are getting married back in Louisville in August.
There was a very good reason the blog was so quiet for the last few days. I was in DC with Emily and
the girls chilling with family. By chilling, I mean eating amazing food (thanks Kristen!), seeing my new
little nephew Evan and playing golf, ping pong, darts, rook and this new version of cranium called
cranium pop that I was quite bad at. Did I miss anything? I also shot two fabulous engagement
sessions. More on those later!
While I was waiting for my first engagement session, I decided to take a quick image of the Jefferson.
Little did I know, Ilene and Steve were sitting down on the steps... Can you find them? Can you tell I
used to love "Where's Waldo"?
